Three books released in memorial meeting at Basanta Nepal Memorial Hall, Balipokhari
Two books and a periodical were released in a memorial meeting held at Basanta Nepal Memorial Hall at Balipokhari on Wednesday.

JAMUGURIHAT: Two books and a periodical were released in a memorial meeting held at Basanta Nepal Memorial Hall at Balipokhari on Wednesday. It was presided over by Hari Upadhayay, president of Basanta Nepal Memorial Trust.
As part of Basanta Nepal's 23rd death anniversary, the Trust had felicitated two distinguished persons in the meeting apart from releasing three books. The Basanta Nepal Memorial Trust observes the death anniversary every year. This year was no exception to this. The day-long programme began with lighting of ceremonial lamps and offering of floral tribute in front of the portrait of Basanta Nepal by Dr. Narayan Chandra Upadhayaya. Bhakta Goutam briefed the objectives of the meeting while Sanjiv Upadhayaya traced the works and activities of the Trust before the gathering.
At the very outset of the meeting, the Trust felicitated veteran radio artist and artiste pensioner Chakrapani Sarma and awardee of Sahitya Akademi's Yuva Puraskar 2020 Anjan Baskota with a gamosa, a citation and a packet of books. After that Anjan Baskota unveiled the Assamese book written by Parshu Chetry, Jana Kabi Haribhakta Katowal Ananya Sahitya Yatra. Following that, Tikaram Upadhayaya released the introductory issue of Purvoday; a periodical in the Nepali language. Indra Prasad Saikia, former president of Sonitpur Zila Xahitya Xabha, released Silalipir Pora E-lipi loi, a collection of Assamese essays by Dr. Khemraj Nepal.
In between the programme, Yashpal Powdel and Milan Adhikari performed songs and dances. Loknath Upadhayaya, former chairman of GDC, Bhakta Goutam, Dr. Tilak Sarma, Anup Sarma addressed the gathering. The meeting was attended by many dignitaries.
