Three-day 59th annual conference of Bodo Sahitya Sabha commences

MANGALDAI: Khairabari in Bhergaon subdivision of Udalguri district, wore a festive look with the attendance of enthusiastic people wearing traditional colourful attires to witness the inaugural function of the three-day long 59th annual conference of Bodo Sahitya Sabha that began from Monday.

In the annual conference hosted at Khairabari, delegates from all the district committees are taking part, while a good number of delegates from Meghalaya, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and even from Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar and Bhutan have also come for the annual conference.

Udalguri Deputy Commissioner Prakash Ranjan Gharphalia ceremonially marked the beginning of the annual session with the inauguration of Lambu Dhgar Boro memorial main gate. Principal of Khairabari College, Hiren Deka Narzi inaugurated the Martyr Ghana Kanta Boro memorial volunteer camp and Superintendent of Police of Udalguri, Ripul Das inaugurated the guest house constructed in memory of martyr Dhanaram Boro. Vice-president of ABSU, Dipen Boro ceremonially inaugurated the main pandal of the session with the seating capacity of 30,000 people, named after former president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Daleswar Boro. Executive Member of BTC and president of the finance sub-committee, Jagadish Sarkar inaugurated the Martyr Deben Boro memorial market complex and State PHE Minister Rihon Daimary inaugurated the Sama Ram Boro memorial exhibition complex in presence of a large gathering. The first day’s programme concluded with a colourful cultural function.

The second day’s programme on Tuesday will be marked by unfurling of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha flag by president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Taren Boro followed by homage paying ceremony to the martyrs and homage paying function in memory of the departed activists of Bodo Sahitya Sabha. State Health and Family Welfare and PWD Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will take part in the second day’s session as the chief guest. The reception committee headed by Executive Member of BTC, Lwmshrw Daimary as the president and legislator Maheswar Boro as the working president, meanwhile has completed all arrangement to host the annual session of Bodo Sahitya Sabha organized for the first time at Khairabari with the estimated budget of Rs 1.5 crore.
