Three girls drown in Kolhi River in Kamrup district

Boko: Three teenage girls - Priti Kalita (14), Mousumi Das (15) and Rinki Kalita (18) drowned in Kolhi River at 1 No. Jiyakur village under Chaygaon Police Station in Kamrup district on Monday. Mousumi Das and Rinki Kalita had come to their uncle Jyotish Kalita’s house in 1 No Jiyakur village and on Monday they went to Kolhi River to take a bath with Jyotish Kalita’s daughter Priti Kalita. They drowned to death in the river. Officer-in-charge of Chaygaon Police Station, Rupam Hazarika immediately reached the incident site and launched a search operation with two SDRF teams. Within half an hour they recovered all three bodies. He said that the bodies would be sent to GMCH for post-mortem. Rekibuddin Ahmed, Chhaygaon constituency MLA, has condoled the demise of the three girls in the tragic incident.
