Three more returnees test Coronavirus positive in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: Coronavirus was detected in the swab samples of three more persons in Lakhimpur district during the last 24 hours. The newly-detected patients have been identified as Deepak Satyarthy (37), resident of Ward No. 3 of Narayanpur town, Poly Gogoi of Keseruguri village under Ghilamora area and Rakesh Tiwari (12) of Banderdwa. They are all returnees from other States.

Deepak Satyarthy, who is a businessman, had been at Narena in New Delhi for one-and-a-half years. He returned home on June 9 from New Delhi by flight via Kolkata and arrived at Lilabari Airport around 6.30 pm on the same day. His swab was collected at the airport as per protocol and then he was quarantined at Hotel Orbit in North Lakhimpur town. He was shifted to Dedicated COVID Hospital (DCH) of the district set up at Telahi Model Hospital. His swab test result was reported to the District Health Department on Saturday morning while the result of Poly Gogoi was reported on Saturday night.

As per report from the Health Department, Poly Gogoi was a bedside assistant at Sarda Hospital in New Delhi and she returned home by train. She arrived in Lakhimpur on June 4 and then she was quarantined at Hotel Asha in North Lakhimpur town. Her swab was collected at first on June 6 and the result of the first swab test reported negative for coronavirus. But she developed health problems along with fever on June 12 and then her swab sample was sent to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) for repeat test which came positive for the dreaded virus. At present she is under treatment in DCHC at Boginadi.

On the other hand, coronavirus was detected in the swab of a 12-year-old boy in the district on Sunday. He has been identified as Rakesh Tiwari whose four-member family stays at Banderdewa near Ganga-Jamuna Mandir. The family had been in Siwan district of Bihar for the last two years and they came back to Lakhimpur by bus on June 7 with 16 other passengers. Then the members of the family were put under home quarantine and their swab samples were collected on June 10. The patient was admitted in DCH at Telahi while other members of the family were shifted to Harmoti quarantine centre.

The District Health Department sent a total of 66 swab samples for coronavirus test on Sunday. The number of people placed under home quarantine in the district rose to 8,490 on the day while 7,461 out of them completed their 28-day-long period of home quarantine. On the other hand, a total of 2,527 returnees from other States were quarantined at 38 quarantine centres of the district till Saturday. Out of them, 2,162 returnees were discharged while 370 people have been under observation. The State Discharge Board issued discharge order for three COVID-19 patients of the district on Sunday and they will be discharged from the hospital on Monday.
