Time has come for grand unification of Kachari groups: MP Biswajit Daimary

KOKRAJHAR: Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary on Wednesday said that the Kacharis of Assam were significantly moving for re-integration and hoped that the great family would be back together for each other's cause.

Daimary, while addressing a huge public gathering organized by Morigaon district United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) at Bagutha, Gerua in Morigaon on Wednesday, said that the time had come for grand unification of the Kachari groups of people of Assam and the Northeast. He said the representatives of Kachari stock, Reang/Bru of Hailakandi and MechKachari of West Bengal gathered at Bagatha and Gerua in Morigaon proved that the great family was coming back together.

Appreciating the efforts of the leaders of UBPO, Daimary said the struggle of the organization would give birth to the BoroKachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) outside BTC in Assam. He thanked the leaders of the organization and the masses who supported the creation of the new council for the development of socio-economic, language and literature and political rights of BoroKachari people. He said the BKWAC would ensure good governance and transparency and become an example in the society.

The president of the UBPO, MihiniswarBasumatary said the organization had submitted the list of BoroKachari villages and families to be included in the new council to the Government of Assam. He said the people would have to wait till the formation of interim executive council of BKWAC. He also said the new council would ensure to deliver smooth development through good governance.

Rajesh Sorki, president of Bru Revolutionary Army (BRA), said the BoroKachari leaders had been taking the great family along and thus they also wanted to be part of that inclusive policy. He said that they wanted the Bru/Reang villages to be included in BKWAC. He also said that they would move the Government of Assam for taking up necessary steps to include the Reang/Bru villages in the new council.

Anil Basumatary, general secretary of the UBPO, who inaugurated the grand public meeting, said that the huge gathering at Bagutha in Morigaon district was historic as BoroKachari people of Assam and MechKachari of West Bengal had got an opportunity to get together.

The meeting was also attended by MLA of West Bengal, Wilson Chumpramari, BipinGoyary, GambaruBasumatary and Ramendra Brahma, advisors and others. The meeting was presided over by the president of Morigaon district UBPO, SankarBasumatary.
