TINSUKIA: The Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, Narsing Pawar ceremoniously inaugurated a sale counter of traditional hand-woven items under the State's flagship programme 'Swanirbhar Naari' at the office of Superintendent Handloom & Textiles Tinsukia on Friday.
Addressing the weavers, Pawar said that the sale counters opened across the district like Margherita and Sadiya would financially benefit the weavers in a big way as the items would be procured directly from the indigenous weavers. Significantly, on the inaugural day itself gamusas worth Rs 12 lakh was procured. The officials from Sericulture, Handlooms and Textiles were present in the programme.
