Tinsukia district sees spike in COVID-19 positive cases

TINSUKIA: With the continuous arrival of migrant workers returning home by Shramik Express, the number of COVID-19 positive cases has been rising alarmingly in Tinsukia district.

After fresh eight cases detected on Friday, the number of positive cases spiked to 86 since the first case was detected on May 23. They have been identified as Prahlad Sharma (35), Kailash Chetry (20), Yan Prasad Sharma (30), Jeet Bahadur Chetry (30) all from Dholla; two from Phillobari ¬¬- Rajen Rai (24) and Raj Limbu (24) - were quarantined at Agrasen Bhavan at Makum Road in Tinsukia while Dipankar Moran (21) from Hebeda and Ramesh Urang (34) from Dholla were quarantined at Nandan Hotel, Tinsukia. Significantly, persons hailing from Doomdooma belt have been affected most and all the eight persons detected on Friday belong to Doomdooma.
