Tinsukia Police Nabbed ULFA (I) Rebel, Explosives Seized

TINSUKIA: Based on specific input of ULFA(I) targeting security forces and vital installations in this festive season, a joint operation, led by Tinsukia Police (inclusive of 210 Cobra Bn team 68Bn CRPF) with 23 Punjab Battalion Army, 21 PARA(SF), was launched wherein multiple check posts were operated within Tarani area under Pengeree PS.

According to Tinsukia Superintendent Police Shiladitya Chetia, suspicious movement of an individual with backpack near Chikarajan area was noticed on Tuesday afternoon. On seeing the police party and security forces, the suspected person tried to flee but was chased and apprehended.

On interim interrogation, the apprehended person identified himself as Sabdo Asom alias Jonki Borah (29), son of Dipak Borah, a resident of Maj Mamorani village under Digboi PS, and revealed that he was tasked to target security forces and vital installations through bomb blasts on an immediate basis.

The explosives and items seized and recovered from his possession were two electric detonators, two IED circuits, three battery sets 9.6 V (six batteries each ), one remote control with 9 V Sony brand battery, one insulation tape (red colour), one duct tape, two loose cable sets, and around 12 kg TNT explosive in three packets.
