Trafficked girl from Assam's Dhekiajuli rescued in Arunachal

In connection with the case number 208/21 registered with Dhekiajuli Police Station u/s 363/363(A)/371/43 IPC dated 19th April, 2021, police rescued an Adivasi girl aged around 7 years from a place 600 km away from Itanagar on Saturday with the help of Arunachal Pradesh police.

BISWANATH CHARIALI: In connection with the case number 208/21 registered with Dhekiajuli Police Station u/s 363/363(A)/371/43 IPC dated 19th April, 2021, police rescued an Adivasi girl aged around 7 years from a place 600 km away from Itanagar on Saturday with the help of Arunachal Pradesh police.

The girl was reportedly missing for about 2 months. According to information received from Dilip Kumar Baruah, chairperson, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), she was trafficked by two boys named Md Iraffan Khan of Borgang, Behali and Ashis Panika of Ghahigaon, Gohpur and sold at Itanagar to a female trafficker who subsequently sold her to another person. The duo was arrested by police a few days back and based on their confessions, a police team led by Bipul Biswas, SI, managed to rescue the girl on Saturday. The girl was handed over to her mother by CWC members.
