JAMUGURIHAT: A two-day workshop on organic and natural farming and food processing was organized by the North East Regional Centre Organic and Natural Farming, Imphal in collaboration with United Organic Small Farmers and Producers Cooperative Society Ltd.
The workshop was held at Jaroni Organic Tea Industry, Balijan Gaon, in the northern part of Sootea under Biswanath subdivision on January 30 and January 31. Assistant Director, RS Harish Srivasthsa, and Technical Assistant Jayanta Karmakar of North East Regional Centre Organic and Natural Farming, Imphal, secretary of UOSFPA, Nibaranjan Das of Regional Council Participatory Guarantee System for India, and other dignitaries delivered lectures on related topics in the workshop.
Kulajyoti Nath, the executive member of Brahmaputra Organic Tea Society chaired the workshop. Through the workshop, the farmer leaders were given detailed discussion on promotion of organic agriculture, organic food processing, preservation, marketing and certification procedure of organic farming, processing and market standard.
