Training on use of EVM and VVPAT held in Chirang

Kokrajhar: As part of its preparedness for the upcoming general election to the Lok Sabha in 31- Sidli (ST) LAC segment of 5- Kokrajhar (ST) HPC, Chirang election district has organized a series of meetings with various stack holders connected with the election process and training for the polling personnel.

On Monday, the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Chirang, Gautam Talukdar held a meeting with government officials, representatives of political parties and local mediapersons to sensitize them on the Model Code of Conduct and other expenditure-related issues in the conference hall of the Bodoland Guest House, Chirang. The meeting was attended by the representatives of major political parties of the district, including BJP, BPF and CPI (M).

Likewise, after completion of the first and second phases of training, the Personnel Cell has started now the third phase of training for the polling personnel engaged as presiding officers, first, second and third polling officers in the conference hall of the DC’s office, Bongaigaon Oil Refinery, Krishi Vigyan Kendra and District Centre.

During the training sessions, they have been taught the poll procedures, rules and regulations for conducting election on poll day and use of Electoral Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT). On the poll day, a total of 2,05,872 voters -1,02,557 male and 1,03,315 female - will cast their votes in its 269 polling stations of the district. An awareness on the use of EVM and VVPAT was also held in the district.
