Tribute to Dwipendra Narayan Choudhury

Dwipendra Narayan Choudhury, the Managing Director of Ganga Ram Choudhury and Law Company Limited based in Dibrugarh, is no more. He breathed his last on August 30 at his residence at Graham Bazar, Dibrugarh. Though he was 87, yet till his death he was mentally very strong with his never 'give-up attitude.

Born to the family of Ganga Ram Choudhury and Annada Choudhury of Dibrugarh on March 11 of 1934, Dwipendra Narayan Choudhury completed his graduation in Arts in 1959 from Gauhati University and LLB from the University of Lucknow in 1963. Though he became a member of Dibrugarh Bar Association, but he could not practice regularly as he founded Ganga Ram Choudhury & Law Company and shouldered the responsibility of smooth management of the company. Though a lawyer by profession, Choudhury was a very pious man with his high interest in Bhagawad Gita, Ramayana and the Puranas and he could recite the slokas of the Gita and the Ramayana. As an ardent follower of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and Jayanta Hazarika, he had full knowledge of the collection of Bhupen Hazarika and the songs of Jayanta Hazarika. He used to sing the bhajanas to the tune of harmonium which he played every morning.

On this day of adya shraddha, I pray before the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and also share the immense pain and sufferings of his wife Hema Prabha Choudhury, only son Koushik, daughter-in-law Dimpi and two grandchildren.
