Agartala: Three people lost their lives in Tripura's Dhalai region after consuming acid while inebriated and mistaken it for wine.

According to authorities, the incident occurred in the 82-mile region under the authority of Tripura's Dhalai district's Manu police station on Monday.

Three people have been identified as Sachindra Reang (22) of Krishna Jay Para, Adhiram Reang (40) of local Hajradhan Para, and Bhabiram Reang (38) of the Nepaltila area, according to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ratna Sadhan Jamatia.

"Under the influence of excessive drinking, all three consumed acid reserved for rubber sheets instead of alcohol," SDPO added.

As per the local sources, last Friday, the wife and child of one Bhabiram Reang from the Demcherra area of Nepaltilla police station travelled to his in-house laws in Kanchanchara in 82 Miles.

Bhabiram was notified of his son's grave health conditions on Monday and raced to Kanchancharra to see him.

On Monday night, a celebration was held in Kanchancharra, with 10 people attending, including the deceased. The three of them ingested acid by accident after drinking too much booze at the party. They were intoxicated and couldn't tell the difference, the cops claimed.

After this, they were transferred to 82 Miles Primary Health Center immediately, where they were referred to District Hospital on Wednesday morning.

"They were declared dead when they arrived. After their untimely death, a pall of doom descended on the neighborhood "Police added.

Last month in Thalayolaparambu Three of the four members of a family that took acid perished in a heartbreaking tragedy Sukumaran, 57, of Kalayil home in Brahmamangalam, his wife Seena, 54, and their eldest daughter Surya, 26, are among the deceased. Seena was the first to pass away, followed by her husband and younger daughter.
