Two former Assam Chief Ministers allegedly faked PAN details to Election Commission

Guwahati: In a sensational revelation by a national portal former Chief Ministers of Asam Tarun Gogoi and Bhumidhar Barman are among top 194 politicians who faked their PAN details at the time of reporting their income to the Election Commission.

According to the portal four former Chief Ministers and 10 sitting ministers, are among 194 politicians who faked their PAN details while reporting their income to the Election Commission.

Tarun Gogoi, is a three-time Chief Minister of Assam who held the position of CM from 2001 to 2016.

Bhumidhar Barman, another veteran Congress leader held the Chief Minister’s post for a from April 22, 1996 to May 14, 1996.

As stated by an affidavit filed with the Election Commission if India during 2006 Assembly Elections, Gogoi showed a PAN with number ACOPG06834, which did not exist in reality. He showed a different PAN number ACOPG0683M In 2011 elections, as reported by Cobrapost.

Like the same way Barman while declaring his assets in 2006 Assembly Elections had entered ACBPD0559N for his PAN which was also later found to be non-exist, said the portal.
