Two more Coronavirus positive case across Lakhimpur district | 12 Jun, 2020

LAKHIMPUR: Coronavirus was detected in the swabs of two more persons in Lakhimpur district on Thursday. With the two newly-detected patients, the number of active cases of COVID-19 has risen to 65 in the district at present.

The newly-detected patients have been identified as Pradip Sahu (50), resident of Ward No. 2 of Narayanpur town, while the other is Bhigu Saikia (25) of Sukulibhoria under Saboti area near North Lakhimpur town. They are also returnees from other States.

Pradip Sahu was at Kalyaan in Mumbai and he arrived at Borjhar Airport on June 6. He reached Lakhimpur by bus from Guwahati in the morning on June 7 along with 30 other passengers and his swab was collected at the health screening centre set up at Madhavdev University located at Narayanpur. On the same day in the afternoon, he was quarantined at Hotel Vivan in North Lakhimpur town.

On the other hand, Bhigu Saikia also came back home from his workplaces in Thane via Mumbai to Guwahati by the same flight with Pradip Sahu on June 6. He too reached Lakhimpur by bus on the morning of June 7. His swab was also collected at Madhavdev University and he was quarantined at Hotel Vivan. Both of them were admitted in the Dedicated COVID Hospital (DCH) of Lakhimpur set up at Telahi Model Hospital after they reported positive for coronavirus.

The District Health Department sent a total of 122 swab samples to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) for COVID-19 test on Thursday while the result of the tests of 21 swab samples, sent before, was reported. On the same day, the people suggested for home quarantine in the district since the beginning increased up to 8,440. On the other hand, 99 people completed their 28-day long period of home quarantine taking the cumulative total to 7,145 till day.
