SIVASAGAR: Two youths of Sonari in the district of Charaideo were seriously injured after being attacked by Naga miscreants. They were saved by personnel of Assam Rifles.

Tension prevails in Kanubari Balijan Grant, bordering Assam and Nagaland in Charaideo district after the incident. According to information, on Friday afternoon, two youths from Kanubari Balijan Grant in Sonari, Charaideo were allegedly abducted by suspected National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) miscreants and tortured. Besides being threatened to be shot at, the two youths were severely beaten by the Naga miscreants. The suspected NSCN miscreants also tried to bury the two youths alive by digging a hole in the ground. As soon as the Assam Rifles came to know about the incident, they immediately launched an operation. The miscreants left the two youths and fled. The two youths who got injured in the incident have been identified as Pranjal Bacha and Navjit Lahan of Kanubari Balijan Grant of Sonari.

According to locals, such incidents have undermined the harmony and brotherhood between the Assamese and Naga people. It has also been alleged that in the last few days, there has been an increase in violence against the people of Assam by the Naga miscreants, though the police-administration has not taken the issue seriously, for which the people of Assam have now expressed strong dissatisfaction.
