Unidentified Miscreants loot cash Rs 1.5 lakh near SBI Bank in Nalbari

Nalbari: In a sensational incident, a man was looted of Rs 1.5 lakh by a gang of unidentified miscreants near the Nalbari State Bank of India Branch on Thursday.

As per reports, unidentified miscreants allegedly tempted the SBI customer by placing a denomination of Rs 10 rupee and Rs 50 rupee note infront of the victim, as soon he came out of the bank in the afternoon.

Later, taking advantage of the situation, when the victim approached towards the robbers, they managed to snatch away the bag carrying Rs 1.5 lakh and escaped from the spot.

The victim was identified as Arun Basumatary, is a private school teacher from Baksa District.

Earlier on August 3, 2019, a Barama Bandhan Bank agent and a lady were robbed at the gunpoint by two unidentified assailants near National Highway 31 in Baksa District.

As per reports, two bike-borne assailants robbed the banker identified as Shahid Musahary and Bank customer Rupali Rajbongshi of Rs 23,000 cash. Miscreants also attacked her with the pistol leading to minor injuries on her forehead, she was immediately rushed to Barama Civil Hospital for better medication.

Both the miscreants came on a pulsar bike, claimed the eyewitnesses.

It may be mentioned that the bank agent and the customer were heading towards the Barama Bandhan Bank in a motorcycle bearing registration number AS 15P 1309 when they were robbed.

Later, local people alleged that the crime incidents especially robbery incidents had made a sharp rise since past one week, however, Baksa Police failed in apprehending any prime suspects in connection to any of the matters.

As per reports, a petrol pump worker of Makum Mart Petrol Pump in Gandhinagar was on the way to deposit a cash amount of Rs 2.3 lakh rupees at Tinsukia when a gang chased him from the back and reportedly looted him at gunpoint during the morning hours.

Following the incident, Tinsukia Police immediately reached the spot and carried out an investigation in connection to the incident.

A case also has been registered at Tinsukia Police station in connection to the incident.

It may also be mentioned that earlier, a group of unidentified miscreants barged into the Mahavir Cold Storage at Naupukhuri area on last Wednesday evening and threatened the accountants at the gunpoint.

As per sources, the gang of dacoits suspecting of hidden amount Rs 10 lakh at the Mahavir cold storage allegedly made an attempt to loot the cash amount, but, recovered nothing on the spot.

Later, the robbers forcefully collected an amount of Rs 12,500 from the cash box at the cold storage and three mobile handsets and left the place.

The entire incident was caught on CCTV camera of the Mahavir Cold Storage.

Meanwhile, Tinsukia Police had started a thorough investigation into the matter.
