KOKRAJHAR: A pre-welcome rally for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is visiting Kokrajhar on Thursday, was brought out by the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) in Kokrajhar town on Wednesday evening.

The rally, which started from Kokrajhar Government HS&MP School premises, was flagged off by Lawrence Islary, UPPL candidate for 30-Kokrajhar East constituency. The rally was accompanied by vice-president of the central committee, UPPL, Pratibha Brahma, and president of youth wing, Bidhaydhar Brahma Choudhury and residents of Kokrajhar town belonging to various communities took part in the rally. The rally ended at Bodofa UN Brahma Children Park.

Talking to reporters, UPPL candidate Lawrence Islary, who is also one of the secretaries of the party, said that they brought out the rally to give a hearty welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kokrajhar on Thursday. He said it was fortunate for the people of the region that the Prime Minister was visiting Kokrajhar. The local problems, issues of different communities, development agenda and other related issues and shortcomings are likely to be figured, he said, adding that the Prime Minister could ensure solution of problems of the people. He also hoped that the Prime Minister would ensure to implement all the clauses of BTR Accord, besides assuring development projects for the region.

Islary also attended an electioneering meeting at Bhotgaon on the same day where he claimed that his victory was imminent. He said that he was associated with student organizations and had received tremendous support from different student bodies. The AKRSU, Kamatapur Progressive Front (KPF) and various student organizations have extended support to him, he said.
