Dibrugarh: As part of an effort to spread awareness regarding voting across different sections of citizens, Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation Cell of Dibrugarh district held awareness camps in Balijan Tea Estate, Azizbagh Tea Estate and Bangalgaon Primary School on Tuesday.

Seven teams of the aforementioned cell toured the tea estates and educated the tea community members on various aspects of elections. Enough light was shed on topics, including the use of Electronic Voter Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), among local women voters, first-time voters and senior citizens to ensure that they end up casting their valuable vote in favour of the candidate of their choice, and not somewhere else inadvertently. The significance of exercising their franchise was also underscored. The cell also conducted mock polls in the tea garden areas as well as Bangalgaon Primary School to make the voters comfortable with the process. More than 7,000 voters participated in the mock polls.
