Tinsukia: A group of five youths carried out Bollywood style robbery by hijacking a truck bearing number AS 01 LC 3122 carrying Kamalpansand Pan Masala cartons worth Rs 38 lakhs near Makum Bypass Road on Wednesday night; however, the matter came into light on Thursday.

Following the incident, the district Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bitul Chetia formed a team and launched a search operation in the areas of Baghjan near the Makum Bypass area.

On Thursday evening, the police team managed to recover around 146 cartons of Kamalapasand out of 150 from the house of two suspected robbers. But, the whereabouts of the five robbers were not ascertained yet by the police.

According to the information received from Guwahati, Kamlapasand Cartons worth Rs 38 lakh rupees was transported to Tinsukia, as the truck reached Makum bypass at around 12 o'clock on the night of Wednesday, the gang of five robbers looted the truck, they ended up beating the truck driver, leaving him alone in the middle of the road along with the truck, tying his feet, hands and eyes.

On receiving the complaint of this big loot, Tinsukia police took a quick action into the matter and launched an operation under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police and recovered the cartons.

At least, 110 cartons of Kamlapasand was recovered from the residence of one identified as Bihansu Gogoi and 34 cartons from Pallav Phukan alias Kachu, a resident of Kukratoli.

It may be mentioned that so far no arrests have been made in connection to the matter.
