Wing Commander GM Charles cremated in Jorhat with military honour

JORHAT: Air Warrior Wing Commander GM Charles was cremated with full military honour in presence of senior Indian Air Force officers, personnel including Air Commodore SK Verma, the station head of the 10 Wing, IAF Station, Jorhat, Roshni Aparanji Korati, Deputy Commissioner, Jorhat, Vaibhav Nimbalkar, SP Jorhat, Imdad Ali, Addl. SP (security), Jorhat, members from Indian Red Cross Society, officers from 114 Para- Troopers from the Indian Army.

The IAF on Thursday completed the task of retrieving bodies of all its 13 personnel from the crash site of its AN-32 aircraft in the Pari mountains in Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh and flew them to Jorhat Airport. While six bodies were retrieved on Wednesday from the crash site, the remains of seven others were recovered on Thursday.

The funeral pyre was lit by his very close batchmate Rakesh. He leaves behind his wife Sonal, daughter Kriti (8 years old). He was very brave and at the same time very brilliant IAF Officer who reached to the post of Wing Commander during his six years of service and received six medals and honours during the tenure of his service which was his third posting at Jorhat Station and had the experience of flying 9000 hours, said sources.
