Workshop on mother and child healthcare concludes at Hapjan Block PHC

DOOMDOOMA: Under the auspices of Assam Branch Indian Tea Association (ABITA) and United Nations International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF), a three-day long workshop on mother and child health care was held at Hapjan Block Primary Health Centre (PHC) from September 20 to September 22 for ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) Community Health Workers of Raidang, Daimukhia, Baghjan and Digulturrung Tea Estates, said Bitul Saikia, co-ordinator of ABITA-UNICEF.

They were imparted training on taking care of pregnant women, children and adolescents suffering from malnutrition (especially about nutrition of children for first 1000 days), observance of weight according to age, treatment of children suffering from malnutrition, making provision of pure drinking water, maintenance of cleanliness and proper hygiene of the children and sanitation. Also discussion was held on administration of children suffering from malnutrition in the National Rehabilitation Centre. The resource persons of the workshop were Rinali Chaurak and Anjali Changmai.
