World Blood Donor Day Observed In Digboi College

DIGBOI: National Science Society (NSS) and NCC 26 Assam (Independent) Company of Digboi College observed World Blood Donor Day, 2019 in the Digboi College premises in association with the Blood Bank, Tinsukia Civil Hospital on Friday morning.

The programme started with an inaugural speech by Rajib Rudra Tariang, Programme Officer, NSS of Digboi College, which was followed by a theme-based meaningful discourse by Dr Dip Saikia, the Principal of Digboi College, wherein he encouraged the student volunteers and younger generation in particular and other stakeholders in general to come forward and promote the noble cause of donating blood and organs to make life really meaningful.

He also underlined the importance of health awareness programmes and significance of blood and organ donation in society, besides throwing ample light on other vital aspects involved during the process like state of health, age bar, body weight, pressure, temperature and pulse rate.

Meanwhile, to mark the event, altogether 50 student volunteers, including 17 female and 33 male, along with teachers and staff of Digboi College donated blood during a camp organized effectively for the purpose.
