Breaking barriers between North & Northeast, Delhi Police recruits 175 women from NE India

Guwahati:  A total of 530 youths from Northeast -- 175 of them being women -- have been newly inducted into Delhi Police as constables. Now, the Delhi Police has about 1,090 personnel from the northeast -- at various levels.

The passing out parade was held in Delhi by maintaining social distancing amid the Covid-19 pandemic. This development is being seen as a,  result of the successful implementation of Bezbaruah Committee recommendations.

Union Minister Kirren Rijiju congratulated all the recruited police constables from the region. He also took the opportunity to mention the efficient leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government's collective effort for the last five years. He conveyed his best wishes to all those recruited through a Facebook post.

The post received a lot of likes and many people thanked the Minister and the Centre for its continuous efforts to bring good news to the northeast. At this juncture, some even remembered the immense contributions made by Robin Hibu, the first IPS officer from Arunachal Pradesh -- especially in making the lives of the Northeast people better in metropolitan cities -- usually seen as being hostile towards the Northeasterners due to their mongoloid features.
