BSF seizes contraband items in Karimganj district

Silchar: In continuation to its anti-smuggling drive, BSF troopers deployed along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Karimganj district under the guidance and directions of Dr K C Mahali, IPS, IG M and C Frontier affected seizures of various contraband items worth lakhs of rupees including a motorcycle (in parts).

On the intervening nights of November 8 and November 9, the vigilant border once again thwarted the attempts of smugglers and seized huge quantity of Indian made foreign liquor, cattle heads and one motorcycle (in parts) while in the process to smuggle out these items to Bangladesh through riverine border/fencing gaps.

It is pertinent to mention here that this year; Mizoram and Cachar Frontier of BSF have been able to seize contraband items worth Rs 7.5 crore including 450 cattle heads and 1800 btls of IMFL.
