Conspiracy to thwart PM Narendra Modi's Rally

Special Correspondent

Silchar: Despite all the canard and malicious propaganda against Prime Minister Narendra Modi spread by the opposition led by Congress, he remains a phenomenon unto himself. After his interview to ANI on wide ranging issues, some sensitive and burning, Congress has become more aggressive to target him particularly on the Rafale and temple controversies, even on personal level.

The Prime Minister who is to address a rally here on Friday and which has been billed as one of the biggest ever and mammoth gathering of people, all sections and communities, is also to face protest demonstration by the employees and workers of Cachar Paper Mill.

According to information, besides the employees and workers, supporters of some opposition political parties will hit the streets while the Prime Minister will be on his way to Ramnagar, the venue of his meeting. The inputs from the reliable sources indicate of a massive demonstration joined by the female folk also to create stumble and also ruckus, primarily to draw the attention of the Prime Minister to his assurance to reopen the Mill. The Mill in question, both at Cachar and Nagaon, has remained shut down for more than 2 years and the employees have no salary for the period.

BJP leaders see it as the handiwork and machination of Congress in order to frustrate the rally. BJP Cachar district president Kaushik Rai who addressed a press-meet along with other leaders in the party office directly hit out at Congress for instigating the employees and workers to stage protest demonstration. He said HPC Paper Mills Revival Committee is backed by INC and has some frontline leaders on the body. He reached out to the employees and workers not to resort to such tactics. Rather, they could submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister on the issues, focusing on reopening of the Mills.

Kaushik Rai added to say on their part, they would also submit a memorandum with the request to the Prime Minister to explore the possibility of early resumption of paper production in both the Mills. He reminded during the visit of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to Panchgram on November 17, 2017, the Revival Committee members along with workers had demonstrated against him. The blueprint for opposing the rally of Prime Minister has been drawn by the leaders who are known for their close association with Congress. BJP district president took the occasion to lambast Congress and its cronies inside the Mill to take the profit making public enterprise to the brink of collapse. He also was critical of a heavyweight Congress leader who was also a central minister who was held entirely responsible for the closure of the Mill. He added to say the CBI investigation as ordered by the Union Government would unearth the whole gamut of Congress game plan behind the shutdown of the Mill and also the squandering away of huge sums of money meant for the modernization of the paper plant.

The memory of Barak people is still fresh about the party and its leaders who were involved in playing ducks and drakes with the development funds of the plant, the only industry in Barak valley. It is now this political party and its leaders who have become active to thwart the Prime Minister’s rally. But, as Kaushik Rai asserted, the three district committees who are organizing the public meet will leave no stone unturned to make it a grand success.
