Silchar: Twin murder on the midnight of Friday sent shivers down the spine of people across Barak Valley.

Sanjay Acharjee, the caretaker of 71 year old Samarendra Bhattacharjee and a close relative, brutally murdered him with a chopper, inflicting severe multiple injuries. After committing the crime, Sanjay escaped and was arrested by the police on alert from Silchar railway station, most probably with the intention to board the next available train. He was taken to Silchar Sadar Thana where he confessed to his crime.

Jakir Hussain Laskar, the other culprit, involved in the murder of his mother, took to the most barbaric and inhuman course of action by battering her to death. The cause behind the murder of Jamirunnesha is not known. The old woman succumbed to the injuries and died at SMCH. Jakir was hit black and blue by the mob and he too was hospitalized.

Sanjay who runs a pan shop on a land owned by Samarendra Bhattacharjee has no regrets after killing him. Samarendra who was suffering from prostate cancer was undergoing treatment at Cachar Cancer Hospital. Samarendra Bhattacharjee kept forcing him to shut down his pan shop each and every day, which was his only source of income. Samarendra Bhattacharjee was suffering from Prostate Cancer and was scheduled for a chemotherapy session today at Cachar Cancer Hospital.
