SILCHAR: Following the directions of Election Commission of India (ECI), the Chief Electoral Officers of all the States and UTs have been directed to display Voter Facilitation Posters (VFPs) at polling stations wherein the commission has allowed photo voter slip as an alternative document for identification.
However, there have been representations made against its use as a stand-alone identification document on the ground of misuse since they are printed after the finalization of the roll and distributed to the voters just before the poll through the BLOs.
Because of this, the ECI has decided and issued an instruction making it mandatory that the photo voter slips shall not be accepted as a stand-alone identification document. Hence, the voters are required to carry their EPIC or any of the 11 alternative documents specified by the ECI for voting. In this context, the ECI has directed that the VFPs, comprising the list of alternative documents as specified by the commission for voting, to be modified suitably.
