PASIGHAT: Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Mama Natung on Tuesday attended the first ever Adi Sports Festival (ASF), organized by the Adi Bane Kebang- Youth Wing (ABKYW) at College of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF)l ground near here. The ASF was organized with the theme, 'Say no to drugs'.

Addressing the gathering, Natung said the department of sports & youth affairs has always been encouraging youths to involve in sports, rather indulging in drugs consumption.

He said in past years the many youths in various disciplines has excelled and brought laurel to the state.

"Likewise, I also look forward to see more participation of youths in sports and games. I ensure, the department will make all possible help to provide a better platform," he said.

Encouraging the participants, Natung stressed on continuity of any sport and game by the enthusiasts.

"ASF is the best platform to showcase individuals and group talents. Therefore, make the best use of it and decide for your better sporting life," he added.

Meanwhile, Health & Family Welfare Minister Alo Libang advised the participants to play fair while maintaining brotherhood.

He said due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown in the state, most of the sports activities were put on hold.

However, with relaxation now, the youths should involve themselves in Sport activities to stay fit and healthy and also to look for individual talent, he added.

Earlier, in his speech ABKYW President Joluk Minung informed that around 600 youths from all Adi inhabited district are participating in the sports festival.

He said the festival is a platform to bring out the hidden talents of the Adi youth and also create awareness on drugs.

Among others, MLA Ninong Ering, ABK President Getam Borang, AAPSU General Secretary Tobom Dai and Zilla members were present on the day.
