Annual General Meeting of Assam Amateur Boxing Association of boxing adjourned

GUWAHATI: The Annual General Meeting of the Assam Amateur Boxing Association was adjourned after an order passed by the Munsif Court (3), Kamrup Metro on Saturday. The meeting was scheduled to be held in Guwahati today.

There was the allegation that present office-bearers of the Assam Amateur Boxing Association didn't follow the rules of the Boxing Federation of India at the time of framing the election procedure to constitute the new executive committee. It was also alleged that several top officials of the association, already completed their tenure and need to go for a 'necessary' cooling period, but they ignored it.

On the basis of a petition filed by boxing referee Pranab Dutta, the Munsif Court (3), Kamrup Metro yesterday ordered to adjourn the meeting and also issued a show-cause notice against the key officials of the Assam Amateur Boxing Association.

When contacted, the secretary of the Assam Amateur Boxing Association Hemanta Kalita said, "The matter is in court's jurisdiction, and so I can't make any comment on it. We will obey the Court order, and will also appear the Court soon."
