Arpan Dutta Grabs All 10 Wickets In Nuruddin Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament

GUWAHATI: Unknown left arm spinner of Sivasagar Arpan Dutta reached a rare height in the ongoing Nuruddin Senior Inter-District Cricket tournament as he grabbed all 10 wickets of his opponent’s innings at Charaideo DSA Stadium, Sonari today. The 25-year-old left arm orthodox spinner grabbed all the wickets of Charaideo’s 1st innings to create an rare record which was already achieved by legendary bowlers like Jim Lekar of England and Anil Kumble in the highest level of the game. His figure of the innings is 19-4-48-10. The two-day match ended in a draw.

In the history of First Class cricket in India there are four bowlers who claimed all 10 wickets in an innings. They are Subhash Gupte (10/78 for President's XI against Pakistan Services & Bahawalphur CC in 1954), Premangsu Mohan Chatterjee (10/20 for Bengal against Assam in the 1956/57), Pradeep Sunderam (10/78 for Rajasthan against Vidarbha in 1985/86) and Debashish Mohanty (10/46 for East Zone against South Zone in Agartala).

President of Assam Cricket Association Romen Dutta, Secretary Devajit Saikia congratulated Arpan Dutta on his performance. Secretary of Veteran Cricket Association of Assam Nasir Gul Khan wished Arpan a bright future at the higher level.
