GUWAHATI: The Assam Football Association (AFA), the supreme body of the state soccer, is planning to organize a zoom meeting for its GB members to discuss the plans on post-COVID 19. The meeting would likely to be held within a next couple of days.

The sports activities in the state are on a standstill, because of lockdown imposed to combat COVID- 19. Football too is suffering badly due to this and there is huge uncertainty about the start of new season.

Talking to The Sentinel the secretary of the Assam Football Association Hemendra Nath Brahma informed that they have planned to organize a GB meeting through video conference.

"All the sports disciplines including football in the state are suffering badly because of COVID-19.

"We even not able to complete our schedule calendar of 2019-20. So we want to make a preliminary discussion with the GB members and chalk out tentative plans and programmes of the next season so that once the situation turns normal we immediately start the soccer activities."

Meanwhile the secretary feels that the recent webinar on soccer coaching and online classes for the referee will help the coaches and referees of the state to stay in touch with the game. The coaches' webinar was organized by the Association of Indian Football Coaches and it was followed by online classes for the referees under the supervision of AFA and All Assam Football Referee Welfare Association. In both the events there was huge turn out from the state.

Brahma said, "Both were very essential and it will help our coaches and referees to stay tune."
