Assam struggling in Vijay Merchant Trophy

GUWAHATI: Assam is in the back foot against Tripura on the day I of Vijay Merchant Trophy which got underway at the ACA stadium, Barsapara on Monday.

Elected to bat Assam were bowled out paltry 116 runs in their first innings. Only two batsmen-Nihar Narah (42) and Shivam Mittal (34) were able to put some runs on the board.

Parvez Sultan bowled nicely in the innings and picked up (5-21). In reply, Tripura finished the day 51-1 in their first innings.
