Bidhayak Cup Gramya Krira Mahotsav Kicks off in Dhakuakhana

LAKHIMPUR: The Bidhayak Cup Gramya Krira Mahotsav-2019, organized under the aegis of Dhakuakhana subdivision administration and Dhakuakhana District Sports Association, kicked off on Tuesday at Ghilamora Model HS School playground amidst colourful cultural programmes. The first ever constituency level extravaganza in the State has been organized in a view to discovering the rural sports talents and to shape them as state, national and international level sport personality.

In the inaugural session of Bidhayak Cup Gramya Krira Dhakuakhana MLA Naba Kumar Doley took part as guest of honour who delivered an encouraging lecture appealing to the youths to take sports as their profession. “Sports are the media of creating worldly brotherhood and integration”, he stated while delivering his lecture highlighting the sports policy adopted by the present State Government for the benefits of the youths. Dhakuakhana SDO Arindam Baruah delivered the welcome address in the programme wherein international level football player Tosen Borah took part as chief guest.

Prominent athlete of Dhakuakhana Jagadish Gogoi lighted the Olympic Flame inaugurating the playground while it was installed by international player Jayashree Konwar. The mascot of the event Dugdugi, created by Dhakuakhana artist Mriganabh Konwar was also released in the programme where Lakhimpur DC Dr. Jeevan B and SDPO of Dhakuakhana Mohanlal Meena took part. A group of school students performed dance item with the presentation of the title song of the event where various competitions on football, volleyball, kabbadi, sprint etc. will be held among male and female players under 14, 16 and 21.
