Big win for Assam vs Mizoram

Assam thrashed Mizoram by 8 wickets in the U-25 State One Day Cricket match held at the Nehru Stadium here today. Chasing 80 runs to victory Assam reached the target in 9.5 overs losing two wickets in the form of Nibir Deka (5) and Riyan Parag (28). Denish Das and Abhishel Thakuri remained not out on 36 and 10 runs respectively.

GUWAHATI: Assam thrashed Mizoram by 8 wickets in the U-25 State One Day Cricket match held at the Nehru Stadium here today. Chasing 80 runs to victory Assam reached the target in 9.5 overs losing two wickets in the form of Nibir Deka (5) and Riyan Parag (28). Denish Das and Abhishel Thakuri remained not out on 36 and 10 runs respectively.

Earlier elected to bat, Mizoram were bowled out paltry 79 runs in 38.2 overs. Riyan Parag picked up 3-20 and he got good support from Akash Sengupta 2-6 and Abir Chakraborty 2-13.

It was the second victory for Assam in the competition. The side in their next game will face Sikkim tomorrow.

Meanwhile, in the other two games of the day held in the city Arunachal Pradesh thrashed Sikkim by 197 runs and Meghalaya defeated Nagaland by 91 runs in a low scoring game. Two batsmen of Arunachal Pradesh-Licha Jhon (54) and Nabam Josh (66)-scored half century while D Bagra (5-11) of same outfit were the most successful bowler in the match. Meanwhile in the other game Bonchang Sangma (52) of Meghalaya scored half century. His teammate Abhishek bowled a devastating spell and picked up 6-17.
