City Police win inaugural match of 19th Bodoland Martyrs’ Gold Cup

KOKRAJHAR: City Police of Guwahati won the inaugural match of 19th Bodoland Martyrs’ Gold Cup football trophy, organized by the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) and Ex-BLT Welfare Society held at KDSA playground on Sunday evening by defeating Rising Sun Club of Bongaigaon via tiebreaker.
City Police scored the first goal in the first half and scored one more after the break but the outfit of Bongaigaon neutralized it and ended a 2-2 draw. Later, in the tiebreaker, Guwahati City Police won the match and advanced to next stage.
Minister of Assam Pramila Rani Brahma kicked off the inaugural match. She introduced with the players and wished best of luck for both the team. The inaugural function was also attended by the EM of Sports and Youth Welfare, BTC Doneswar Goyary, former EM Mono Kr. Brahma, president of Assam Football Association and others.
Talking to reporters, advisor of FKDSA Magural Balary said as many as 13 teams from Assam and other states participated here that includes Mohammedan Sporting Club of Kolkata, Lazong Club of Shillong, IOL-Duliajan, City Police-Guwahati etc. He also said the champion team will be given Rs. 1 lakh and a trophy while the runners-up team would be given Rs. 50,000 and trophy.
