Hailakandi lift hockey title

SILCHAR:The first ever hockey tournament organised by Badarpur Press Club on Sunday played between Hailakandi District Sports Association and Silchar District Sports Association was hotly contested which drew huge crowd and applause. The tournament being held under the auspices of Mohammed Ali Memorial Shield saw the win by Hailakandi District Association. In the first match, Hailakandi defeated Badarpur Press Club by the margin of 4 goals. In the second match, Silchar DSA defeated Karimganj XI by 4-1 goals. Sinthoiba Singh of Hailakandi was adjudged 'Man of the Final' for scoring 2 goals.

Surajit Deb received Amit Suklabaidya Memorial Trophy as man of the tournament. The runners-up team received late Fazlur Rahman memorial trophy. The tournament was held at Al Islah National Academy Ground, Badarpur.
