IPL: Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals may visit Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Rajasthan Royals will host two IPL matches in Guwahati involving Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders if they get the necessary permission from the Rajasthan High Court.

The schedule of the IPL 2020 officially announced last night and Guwahati is jointly placed with Jaipur as the venue of second and the third games of Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan will start their campaign on April 2 with an away match against Chennai Super Kings. There next two games, both are home matches, would be held on April 5 vs Delhi Capitals and April 9 vs Kolkata Knight Riders. Guwahati is the proposed venue with Jaipur for both these matches.

As per their earlier decision Rajathan Royals fulfilled all the formalities to play two of their home matches in Guwahati. However the franchise faced PIL which objected on their decision to pick Guwahati as the second home venue. Rajasthan High Court is yet to decide on the matter where Assam Cricket Association also became a party recently.

It may be mentioned here that a team of Rajasthan Royals and IMG visited ACA stadium, Barsapara recently and meet with the officials of the Assam Cricket Association on different issues related to the hosting of IPL matches. Both IMG and Rajasthan Royals are expected to start their office in Guwahati in the first week of March.
