Morning Star to Celebrate Foundation Day Today

Guwahati: The Karbi Anglong Morning Star Football Club will celebrate its 10th Foundation Day tomorrow coinciding with the KASA Stadium Test Event. Former captain of Indian football team Baichung Bhutia will attend the Test event function as one of the guests.

Morning Star Club was founded in 2008 by Mizi Kro along with a few soccer lovers of the region like George Rongpi, Mukul Kathar, Damien Hanse, Angela Engtipi, and Biswajit Rongpi. The purpose of the Club was to develop football in Karbi Anglong from the grassroots level and to participate in the I-League. It made a steady rise from winning, to name a few, the Assam Club Championship in 2010, the AASU Invitational Cup 2010, NEEPCO Gold 2012 along with Assam State Premier League 2015.

As a part of its grassroots football development initiative the Club started 23 non-residential football academy centres including Diphu, Amlokhi, Dillai, Hidipi, Hanjanglangso, Hamren, Tokolangso, Deithor, Dolamara, Khotkhoti, Bokulia, Phuloni, Dokmoka, Dengaon, Tumpreng, Dongkamukam, Jengkha, Baithalangso, Tarabasa, Dentaghat, Ok-kereng, Borgaon, and Jaipong.
