National Junior Athletics Championship Assam win 3 medals on Day 2

Hosts Assam opened their account on day II in the 36th National Junior Athletics Championship with three medals at the Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium .

GUWAHATI: Hosts Assam opened their account on day II in the 36th National Junior Athletics Championship with three medals at the Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium here today. Among the three medals one is silver which was collected by Idul Hussain in the 100mts (boys, U-16) with timing 11.16. Bikram Das earlier gave the first medal to Assam, a bronze, in the 10,000 walk race(boys U-20) with 44:07:61. The last medal of the day came in the form of Angshuman Bhagawati who clocked 07.71 to win bronze in 60mts boys U-16 category.

Meanwhile Uttarakhand's 16-year-old Reshma Patel rewrote a National Record for the second time in a fortnight when she won the girls under-18 5000m event. She clocked 23 minutes 38.57 seconds to lower KT Neena's under-18 record of 24:11.70 set in Bambolim, Goa, in 2014.
