After a gap of nearly a decade cricket is returned at the Nehru stadium today. The Assam Cricket Association has started its trial matches on the newly laid wicket.

GUWAHATI: After a gap of nearly a decade cricket is returned at the Nehru stadium today. The Assam Cricket Association has started its trial matches on the newly laid wicket.

Earlier cricket pitches were completely removed from the Nehru stadium which once hold 14 ODI matches. However recently Assam Cricket Association took the initiative to bring back cricket at the Nehru stadium and they also received positive support from Sports and Youth Welfare Department.

Altogether four new pitches were laid at the Nehru stadium and ground too renovated to international standard. The Assam Cricket Association already included the ground as one of the venue for the forthcoming Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket championship which Guwahati will host in November.
