GUWAHATI: An entertaining century from Jharkhand captain Ishan against Assam was the highlight of the last day Ranji Trophy tie which ended in a draw at Ranchi on Sunday. Jharkhand collected three points from the match by virtue of first innings lead while Assam opened an account with a single point.

It was almost sure after the end of the third day that the match was heading for a draw. However, Ishan single-handedly brought some entertainment in the game with a brilliant century in the morning.

Jharkhand started from their overnight score 44-1 and immediately shifted to top gear. Most of the runs came from the bat of Ishan. The captain took 104 balls to score 120 runs with the help of 13 boundaries and four towering sixes. He got good support from opener Mohammad Nazim who contributed 48 runs on the board. The duo added 151 runs on 2nd wicket partnership playing 185 balls together. Jharkhand declared their second innings just before the launch at 230-4.

Among the Assam bowlers Ranjeet Mali, Arup Das, Amit Sinha, and Rahul Singh picked one wicket each.

Assam required 277 runs to win, made a poor start as opener Pallav Das (6) returned facing only 20 balls. His partner Rishav Das (26) too not lasted long . However Sibsankar Roy and Gokul Sharma once again played two responsible knocks and ensured that Assam would get one point from this match. The duo added unbeaten 88 runs on the third wicket. Sibsankar, who scored the second half-century in the match, remained not out on 52 (4X8) while Gokul was unbeaten on 48 (4X8) when the match came to an end.
