State basketball team named for 35th Youth National Basketball championship

GUWAHATI: Basketball Association of Assam (BAA) announced its team for the forthcoming 35th Youth National Basketball championship which will be held in Udaypur. Assam will participate in both boys and girls section.

Disclosing the news to the media the secretary of the Basketball Association of Assam today said that Bibek Dhar will lead boy’s team in the competition while Amrita Mahanta was named as captain for girl’s team. Medhi today also announced that Basketball Association of Assam will host North East Inter School Basketball Championship in December. Two top teams of each state will participate in this competition.

The media briefing was also attended by Pulak Mahanta, the advisor of Basketball Association of Assam. In a brief speech he said that Basketball Association of Assam is trying its best to find out the new talent in this game. At the same time proper attention is given so that state players can receive quality training facilities. “Hope we will get result very soon,” said Mahanta.

Teams: Boys-Sandilya Barua, Manish Tasniwal, Sohomashish Goswami, Prabin P, Priyangshu Ghose, Bibek Dhar (capt), Samiran Mohan, Rohit Upadhay, Nitish Bhattacharjee, Kabir Ali, Pragyalav Mahanta, Rahul Paswan and Akash.

Girls: Amrita Mahanta (capt), Geeta, Joyita Bhuya, Jesika Nirlov Kashyap, Nusrat Nasifa, Moitrey Choudhury, Aishali Saikia, Rudrakshi Majumdar, Mayuri Deka, Arpita Das, Bidhusi Sivam, Priyalaxmi Kashyap and Bhabna Kalita.
