GUWAHATI: When Virat Kohli has been criticised for his on field behaviour in the ongoing tour of Australia the Indian captain got huge support from legendary cricketer Sir Vivian Richards. He felt, Virat is able to give it back because he is good enough to do so.

Indian captain received lot of criticism from former Australian and Indian cricketers for his ‘testy exchanges’ with his Australian counterpart Tim Paine during the second Test in Perth. But Richards didn’t find anything wrong in it as he felt Virat didn’t cross the limit.

Talking to the media persons at the side line of a promotional event the former West Indian great said, “I am a big fan of Virat’s aggression and enjoy the way he is playing aggressive brand of cricket against the Australians.”

Richards also called Indian captain a special player and pointed out that he is able to give it back because he is good enough to do so. “Virat is special and I like his attitude. He is able to give reply because he is good player. If you are not good you can’t reply.”

Regarded as one of the the greatest modern day batsmen the former captain visited Guwahati as part of the ‘Made for Medicine’ tour which was organized to connect with aspiring medical students in India. He is the Brand Ambassador of American University of Antigua College of Medicine and already visited Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata before wind up the tour in Guwahati.

Speaking on the possible result of ongoing Test series between India and Australia Richards felt India are ahead. “Kohli is leading his side nicely. I feel this is the best opportunity for India to clinch a Test series in Australian soil and Kohli’s team are capable to do it.”

Richards, who spent nearly five days in Guwahati, admitted that he would return with fond of good memories. “It is a beautiful experience to come to Guwahati. When I arrived here from Kolkata, the air was very fresh. I liked the beauty of the place.”

He also added: “Your tea is special. Whenever I go somewhere, I try to find out what’s special there. Tea in Assam is very special and sure I will take home Assam tea.”
