Winning start for Assam Cricket Association(ACA XI) in Colombo

GUWAHATI: Assam Cricket Association (ACA) XI made winning start in their exposure tour in Colombo today. Rode on a nice century from Gokul Sharma ACA XI defeated Colombo Colts by 52 runs in the first game of the tour.
ACA XI invited to bat, scored 295-7 in their 50 overs. Gokul, who came into bat at number 3, played a responsible knock and helped his team to put a good total on the board after the openers Riyan Parag and Parvez Aziz failed to give a start as per the expectation. The right-handed batsman scored 112 runs in the match and he took 123 balls to score those runs with the help of eight boundaries and one six.
He got nice support from Sib Sankar Roy and Romario Sarma during the innings. Sibsankar, scored 45, added 74 runs with Gokul. Later Gokul paired with Romario to add another 133 runs on the fifth wicket.
Sibsankar hit seven boundaries in his 45 runs innings while Romario’s innings comprised of 6 boundaries and one six.
Later Colombo colts, which were boosted with 5 first class cricketers and one Sri Lanka ‘A’ player, were restricted to 243-9 in their 50 overs. Lasith Abeyratne (66) was the top scorer for local outfit. Among the ACA XI bowler Pritam Das, 3-39, came out with the best figure.
