IMPHAL: The BJP on Tuesday won the Wangoi, Singhat and Wangjing Tentha seats while an Independent candidate supported by the BJP won the Lilong seat in Manipur.

The BJP was leading in the Saitu Assembly bypoll seat till reports last came in.

The Election Commission is counting the votes for the Manipur bypolls alongside that of Bihar assembly elections, amid the hectic task of maintaining strict COVID-19 guidelines.

BJP's Oinam Lukhoi Singh, has been declared the winner from Wangoi seat beating closest rival National People's Party's Khuraijam Loken Singh by a close margin of 257 votes. Earlier during the day, BJP's Ginsuanhau had been declared the winner from the Singhat Assembly seat by the ECI.

Paonam Brojen Singh of the BJP won the Wangjing Tentha constituency by a margin of 1560. Y Antas Khan, an Independent candidate supported by the saffron party bagged the Lilong seat in Manipur. (Agencies)
