SHILLONG: Meghalaya has so far recorded 40 cases of COVID-19 positive patients, the government informed.

On Tuesday a 73-year old person from Ri-Bhoi tested positive for the virus.

So far in Meghalaya, out of the 40 cases it has 26 active cases, 13 recovered and one died.

The government also informed that the number of samples sent for testing till Tuesday was 11,492 out of which 11, 202 number of persons tested negative and the report of 250 samples is awaited.

A total of 808 persons are under institutional quarantine and as per contact tracing details 118 are high risk contacts and 57 low risk.

Meanwhile, till 2 pm of Tuesday there were 14,241 stranded residents of Meghalaya who entered back in the State.

The government also informed that a special train will start from Bengaluru on June 10 and it will stop at Chennai, Vijayawada, Cuttack and Howrah to transport the registered stranded people in the concerned states.

Moreover, the government also informed that 2 pigs died at Madan Umrnong, Ri Bhoi district even as it said that there is no suspected cases of African Swine Fever.
