Anti-Pak chatter rend air in Shillong

Shillong: The angst of the layman in the streets of Shillong against Pakistan comes straight from their heart. All this anger is on the dastardly attack on the CRPF in Pulwama, Kashmir and the Pakistani actions thereof. Even as they talk in a camaraderie spirit about the ongoing State Autonomous District Council polls (ADCs), the deliberation on how to teach Pakistan a lesson resonated in every tea and food joints. A 68-year-old retired Subedar Major of the Army S Sangma told his group of friends in Polo, Shillong, “I have retired long back but my readiness to carry the gun again to fight inimical forces is still alive.” He said, “I love to live peacefully but not at the cause of my nation” while going hammer and tonks against the Pakistan forces.

Retired Lance Naik Banbet Pariong said, “I believe in war but not in the proxy war that our neighbouring nation is waging”, adding, “My 51 kg physical weight should suffice to carry a gun and volunteer in taking on these adversaries.”

The anti- Pakistan talks have reached a new decibel in all the joints in the city. The mood of aggression climbs up when Pakistan displayed videos of captured fighter pilot Abhinandan Varthaman. “When comes to local priorities it’s a different case but Meghalaya has always shown that it is nation first”, said Defence Public Relation Officer (PRO) R Ratnakar.
