Assam Rifles distributes 28 solar streetlights in Shillong

SHILLONG: Under the Civic Action Programme, Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles installed 28 Solar Street Lights in three villages of East Khasi Hills district on December 29.

Six lights were installed at Laitlum Village, 12 Lights at Umiew Maw-U-Sam and10 Lights at Umtngew Village in the vicinity of Smit village, thereby helped the villages in providing Solar powered Street lights.

The project was inaugurated by Colonel J P Sattigiri, Commandant, DGAR FIU on behalf of the Director General Assam Rifles at these villages. The Headman and villagers of Laitlum, Umiew Maw-U-Sam and Umtngew Village thanked the Assam Rifles for the Solar Street Lights. The Assam Rifles lives upto its motto of the ‘Friends of the North East’ and would continue to help the local villages thereby binding the villagers and Forces together.
