Birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi 'sadhvana divas' observed

SHILLONG: Along with the rest of the nation, the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) with the District Congress Committee observed the 76^th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi at Windermere Estate, Umpling here on Thursday. The attendance was restricted as per the COVID-19 Protocol, stated a release.

The meeting was presided over by MLA Charles Pyngrope who is also the president of Shillong city District Congress Committee. The programme began with lighting of the ceremonial lamp and paying floral tribute before the late leader's portrait.

Among those who addressed the meeting were MPCC working presidents James S Lyngdoh and Vincent H. Pala (MP), as well as the president of East Khasi Hills DCC, Kennedy C Khyriem. Also present on the occasion were Lamphrang Blah (MDC) and the office bearers of the MPCC and the DCC, leaders and members of the frontal organizations. The general secretary, Shillong City (District) Congress Committee proposed the vote of thanks.

After the meeting, members of the Shillong City Congress led by its president MLA Pyngrope, distributed food Packets among the inmates of the 'Mercy Home' at Demthring, stated a release signed by Dr Manash Das Gupta, general secretary of MPCC.
